FAQ

Which characters are encoded?
It converts the five characters < > & " ' into their safe HTML entities. This lets you display code or tags on screen exactly as written.
Are numeric entities (') decoded too?
Yes. Besides named entities, it also converts decimal (') and hexadecimal (') numeric entities back into their original characters. Unknown entities are safely left as they are.
Is what I enter sent to a server?
No. Both encoding and decoding are processed entirely within your browser, and the text you enter is never sent to or stored on a server.
