YouTube Chapter & Timestamp Generator
Build your chapter list and validate the timestamps against YouTube's rules before you paste
Build and validate the chapter list that goes in your YouTube video description. The tool checks YouTube's official requirements for enabling chapters in real time — must start at 00:00, must be in order, at least 10 seconds apart, at least 3 chapters — so you catch problems before you publish.

How to use
- Add chapters one at a time in the "Interactive Editor," filling in each timestamp and title — or drop your existing text into the "Paste & Parse" tab and let it parse automatically.
- Check the validation panel on the right and make sure every rule shows a green check (✅).
- Hit "Copy" at the top right and paste the finished chapter list straight into your video description.
FAQ
- Why aren't my YouTube chapters showing up on the video?
- The three usual culprits: 1) your first chapter doesn't start at 00:00, 2) you have fewer than 3 chapters total, or 3) two chapters are less than 10 seconds apart. The validation panel here catches all of these.
- Which timestamp formats are supported?
- Both standard MM:SS and HH:MM:SS, so long videos that run past the one-hour mark work perfectly fine.
- Can I set a custom thumbnail for each chapter?
- No — YouTube automatically pulls a preview frame from each chapter's starting point; there's no option to upload a custom thumbnail for individual chapters. The best workaround is to nudge your timestamps slightly so each chapter begins on a clean, representative frame.
