- How is the fuel cost calculated?
- Fuel needed = distance / fuel economy, and fuel cost = fuel needed x fuel price. The round trip is calculated as twice the one-way cost.
- How is the carpool share determined?
- If you enter 2 or more passengers, it also shows the per-person share by dividing the one-way fuel cost by the number of people.
- Will this match my actual fuel cost?
- This is a reference estimate. Real-world fuel economy varies widely with road conditions, traffic, heating and cooling, load, and driving habits, so it may differ from the actual cost. We recommend budgeting with some margin.
