Korean Gift Tax Calculator
Estimate Korea's gift tax using relationship deductions and progressive rates
Enter the value of the gifted property and your relationship to the donor, and this calculator applies Korea's gift property deduction, the five-bracket progressive rate schedule, the generation-skipping surcharge, and the voluntary filing credit to estimate the gift tax you would actually owe. If you're planning to transfer assets to a child, spouse, or grandchild under Korean tax law, it gives you a quick sense of the tax bill ahead of time. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing you type is sent to a server.

FAQ
- How much is the gift property deduction for each relationship?
- A spouse gets up to 600 million KRW, lineal ascendants and adult children up to 50 million KRW, minor children up to 20 million KRW, and other relatives up to 10 million KRW. Unrelated recipients get no deduction.
- When does the generation-skipping surcharge apply?
- When a gift skips a generation — for example, a grandfather gifting directly to a grandchild — the calculated tax is increased by 30%. If the recipient is a minor and the taxable base exceeds 2 billion KRW, the surcharge rises to 40%.
- Will the result match my actual tax filing exactly?
- This tool is a reference estimate based on the standard gift deductions and rate brackets. Your actual liability can differ depending on your situation, such as prior gifts that must be aggregated, so consult a licensed tax accountant before filing.
