Passphrase Generator

Combine several words into an easy-to-remember yet strong passphrase using cryptographic randomness

🔒 Everything runs 100% in your browser. Your files and input are never uploaded to any server.

Instead of a random string of characters, this tool combines several words into a passphrase that's easy for people to remember but hard for machines to guess. Pick the number of words, the language (English/Korean), the separator, and whether to add capitalization or numbers, and it's generated instantly along with the estimated entropy — every choice made without bias using cryptographic randomness (crypto.getRandomValues).

How to use

  1. Set the number of words (3–8) with the slider. More words means stronger.
  2. Choose the word language (English/Korean) and the separator (-, ., _, space).
  3. If needed, turn on 'Capitalize first letter' and 'Add number at the end' to raise the complexity.
  4. Check the generated passphrase and grab it with the Copy button.

FAQ

Is it safer than a random-string password?
Security is determined by 'entropy (estimated bits)', and with enough words you can secure high entropy while still being easy to remember. The larger the estimated bits shown on screen (e.g. 60 bits or more), the stronger it is against brute force.
How is the displayed entropy calculated?
It's an approximation of number of words × log2(dictionary word count), plus about 6.6 bits when a number is added. Actual strength is an estimate that assumes the attacker knows the word list, so treat it as reference only and increase the word count for important accounts.
Is the generated passphrase sent to a server?
No. Both the dictionary and the random generation run only within your browser, and no value is ever sent or stored. It's best to use a different passphrase for each different site.
