FAQ

Is a monthly salary of 1.85 million KRW or less really exempt from garnishment?
Yes. Under Korea's Civil Execution Act, any amount up to 1.85 million KRW per month is fully protected from garnishment to guarantee a minimum standard of living.
Can a high earner have their entire salary garnished?
No. Even above the 6 million KRW bracket, the protection is progressive: 3 million KRW plus half of the excess remains exempt from garnishment.
