This tool helps employees, creditors, and HR staff figure out how much of a monthly salary in Korea can actually be seized under wage garnishment, based on the tiered brackets set by the Civil Execution Act. Enter a monthly salary and instantly see both the protected (non-attachable) amount and the maximum attachable amount, with all calculations happening locally in your browser.
How to use
- Enter the monthly salary amount (gross or net) in the input field.
- Check the maximum attachable amount shown at the top of the result panel.
- Review the non-attachable amount, protected as the basic living minimum.
- Adjust the salary figure to compare limits across different income brackets.
FAQ
- Is a salary under 1.85 million KRW completely protected?
- Yes. Under Korea's Civil Execution Act, monthly salaries of 1.85 million KRW or less cannot be garnished at all, to protect a basic standard of living.
- Can a high earner's entire salary be garnished?
- No. Even above 6 million KRW, a portion combining 3 million KRW plus half of the amount exceeding that threshold remains protected, so the limit rises progressively rather than disappearing.
- Is my salary data sent or stored anywhere?
- No, every calculation runs entirely in your browser and nothing is transmitted to or saved on a server.
