FAQ
- Is the tip applied to the pre-tax or post-tax amount?
- By custom, tips are often based on the pre-tax amount (the food cost), but this varies by region and venue. This calculator multiplies the amount you enter by the tip rate, so just enter whichever base amount you prefer.
- How is the per-person amount divided?
- The total including tip is split evenly among the number of people you enter. The party size is treated as at least 1, so there's no divide-by-zero error.
- Is the amount I enter stored on a server?
- No. All calculations run in your browser, and no information such as amounts or rates is ever sent to a server.
