🔒 Everything runs 100% in your browser. Your files and input are never uploaded to any server.
This tool lowers an audio file's bitrate to reduce its size while keeping the quality as high as possible. It's useful for lightening recordings, lectures, and music files that bump up against email attachment or upload size limits.
How to use
- Drag and drop your audio file, or click to load it.
- Choose a target bitrate (128–192kbps is recommended for music, 64–96kbps for voice).
- Click 'Compress', see how much smaller the file got compared to the original, and download the MP3.
FAQ
- Is my file sent to a server?
- No. Compression is handled only in your browser via WebAssembly, so your file is never uploaded. The first run may be briefly slow while the conversion engine downloads.
- How much does the quality drop?
- A lower bitrate means a smaller file but also lower quality. Music generally sounds fine at 128kbps or higher, while 64–96kbps is plenty for speech-heavy audio.
- The file size didn't actually go down.
- If the original is already at a lower bitrate than the one you picked, the size may barely change or even grow. In that case, choose a lower bitrate.
