- Is my audio file sent to a server?
- No. Conversion runs entirely in your browser via WebAssembly, so neither the original nor the converted file is ever uploaded. Only the conversion engine is downloaded from a CDN, and just once.
- Why is the first conversion slow?
- The first run has to download and set up the conversion engine (FFmpeg). Once it's loaded, later conversions are much faster, though larger files naturally take longer to process.
- What's the difference between WAV and MP3?
- WAV is an uncompressed, lossless format that's large but ideal for editing and archiving, while MP3, OGG, and M4A use lossy compression to stay small, which is better for sharing and playback. Pick the format and bitrate that fit your use.
