FAQ
- How many kg/m³ is 1 g/cm³?
- Exactly 1,000 kg/m³. That also happens to be the density of pure water at 4°C, which is why it's such a common reference point.
- How do lb/in³ and lb/ft³ relate?
- 1 lb/in³ equals 1,728 lb/ft³ — there are 1,728 cubic inches in a cubic foot. That works out to roughly 27.68 g/cm³, which is an extremely high density.
- Are the density values for each material always exact?
- The presets for gold, iron, water, and so on are reference values at room temperature and standard atmospheric pressure. Real-world density shifts slightly with temperature, pressure, purity, or alloy composition, so for precision industrial work you should double-check against measured figures for your specific material.
