FAQ

How many kg/m³ is 1 g/cm³?
Exactly 1,000 kg/m³. That also happens to be the density of pure water at 4°C, which is why it's such a common reference point.
How do lb/in³ and lb/ft³ relate?
1 lb/in³ equals 1,728 lb/ft³ — there are 1,728 cubic inches in a cubic foot. That works out to roughly 27.68 g/cm³, which is an extremely high density.
Are the density values for each material always exact?
The presets for gold, iron, water, and so on are reference values at room temperature and standard atmospheric pressure. Real-world density shifts slightly with temperature, pressure, purity, or alloy composition, so for precision industrial work you should double-check against measured figures for your specific material.
