Astigmatism & Macular Degeneration Self-Test
Check your eye health on screen with an astigmatism dial and Amsler grid
This tool lets you run a quick self-check for signs of astigmatism and macular degeneration using an on-screen astigmatism fan chart and an Amsler grid. Nothing to install and nothing sent to a server — it runs right in your browser, which makes it a handy reference before a full eye exam. It is not a substitute for a medical diagnosis, so see an eye doctor if anything looks off.

How to use
- Use the tabs at the top to choose either "Astigmatism Self-Test" or "Macular Degeneration Test (Amsler Grid)".
- Sit about 12–16 inches (30–40 cm) from the screen, wearing your usual glasses or contacts.
- Cover one eye with your hand, stare at the dot in the center of the chart, and watch for lines that look darker or thicker than others, or grid lines that appear wavy or distorted.
- Repeat with the other eye, then use the interpretation guide below the chart to judge your results.
FAQ
- Can this test actually diagnose astigmatism or macular degeneration?
- No. This is a simple on-screen self-check, not a medical diagnosis. If some lines look noticeably darker or blurrier than others, or the grid looks bent or has missing spots, schedule a full exam with an eye doctor.
- Are my inputs or results sent to a server?
- No. The tool only displays images on screen — it collects no input, and everything runs entirely inside your browser.
- Should I wear my glasses or contacts during the test?
- Yes. If you normally wear corrective lenses, keep them on — testing with your usual correction gives a more meaningful result.
