This tool displays a radial astigmatism dial and an Amsler grid so you can do a quick, informal self-check for signs of astigmatism or macular degeneration right in your browser. Nothing you view is sent anywhere — everything runs locally on your screen. It's a handy first look before an actual eye exam, not a substitute for one.
How to use
- Choose 'Astigmatism Test' or 'Macular Degeneration (Amsler Grid)' from the tabs at the top.
- Sit about 30-40cm from your screen, wearing your glasses or contact lenses as you normally would.
- Cover one eye and focus on the center of the chart, noting whether any lines look thicker or the grid appears distorted.
- Repeat with the other eye, then check the diagnosis guide below to interpret what you see.
FAQ
- Can this tool officially diagnose astigmatism or macular degeneration?
- No. It's an informal, screen-based self-check, not a medical diagnosis. If lines look uneven or the grid appears wavy or distorted, see an ophthalmologist for a proper exam.
- Does the tool collect or send any of my data?
- No, there's nothing to input — the tool just renders test patterns on screen, and everything happens locally in your browser.
- Should I wear my glasses or contacts while testing?
- Yes, if you normally wear corrective lenses, keep them on during the test for a more accurate everyday-vision check.
