Adjusts the pixel dimensions and DPI (pixels per inch) metadata of images meant for print, then saves them. Setting a value like 300 DPI lets print and editing programs correctly recognize the actual output size.
How to use
- Drag and drop or click to select an image.
- Enter the DPI you want and the target pixel dimensions (you can lock the aspect ratio).
- Choose PNG or JPG format and click Save.
- Check the displayed output size (cm/inches) and download.
FAQ
- Is my image sent to a server?
- No. Both the resizing and the DPI metadata are handled inside your browser, and your image is never sent to a server.
- Does changing only the DPI improve quality?
- No. DPI is metadata that sets the 'print size,' not the quality. Actual sharpness is determined by the number of pixels, so for large prints you need to increase the pixel dimensions themselves. These values are for reference and may differ from the actual printed result.
- Where is the DPI info stored?
- It's written to the pHYs chunk for PNG and the JFIF density values for JPG. It doesn't affect on-screen display; print and editing programs read these values to calculate the output size.
