Inflation Calculator (Korea)

See what an amount from one year is worth in another year

This calculator uses finalized Consumer Price Index (CPI) data from Statistics Korea covering 1970 through 2025 to show what an amount from one year is worth in another year, both in nominal terms (what the same goods cost) and in real terms (purchasing power). It's handy if you've ever wondered what an old price tag would be today, or if you want to check the real value of savings or a salary over time. Every calculation runs instantly in your browser, so the amounts you enter are never sent to a server.

FAQ

What's the difference between nominal value and real value?
Nominal value is what an item from the base year would cost in the target year once inflation is added in. Real value converts an amount in the target year back into the purchasing power of the base year. For example, what 1,000,000 KRW bought in 2015 would cost in 2025 is the nominal value, while what 1,000,000 KRW in 2025 is worth in 2015 terms is the real value.
How are years after 2025 calculated?
Through 2025 the calculator uses the finalized inflation rates published by Statistics Korea. For any year beyond that, it compounds the estimated annual rate you enter.
Is my data sent to a server?
No. The amounts and years you enter are calculated entirely inside your browser and are never transmitted anywhere.
