- Is my file sent to a server?
- No. All conversion happens inside your browser via WebAssembly, so your video is never uploaded or stored. The first run may be briefly slow while the conversion engine (about 30MB) downloads.
- Why does WebM conversion take so long?
- WebM (VP9) compresses very efficiently but is heavy to encode, and since it's processed on a single browser thread, it's slower than MP4. Long videos take a while, so try a short clip first.
- Which format should I choose?
- Pick MP4 when broad compatibility matters most, WebM for embedding on web pages, MOV for editing on Apple devices, and GIF when you need a short looping clip.
