Enter your monthly deposit, savings term, and interest rates to see simple-interest returns for both a regular housing subscription account and Korea's Youth Housing Dream preferential account. It's useful for young savers weighing whether the preferential account is worth switching to, and everything runs in your browser so no financial figures are sent anywhere.
How to use
- Enter your monthly deposit amount in KRW.
- Enter the savings term in months (up to 120 months).
- Enter the interest rate for the regular account and the youth-preferential account (defaults are 2.8% and 4.3%).
- Check the extra after-tax interest you'd gain from the youth account at the top, along with both net interest totals.
FAQ
- How is the interest calculated?
- It uses simple interest on an installment-savings basis, applying the rate to each monthly deposit for its remaining months. The regular account is taxed at 15.4% on all interest, while the youth account is tax-free up to 5,000,000 KRW in interest, with only the excess taxed at 15.4%.
- Can I change the interest rates or limits?
- Yes, you can edit the rate fields to model your own terms if your bank's rates differ. The 5,000,000 KRW tax-free cap and 15.4% tax rate are fixed in the calculation, matching current Korean rules.
- Does this tell me if I'm eligible to open the account?
- The tool shows a brief note on eligibility (annual income under 50 million KRW, ages 19-34), but you should confirm current requirements with your bank, since program rules can change.
