Alcohol Sober-Up Time Calculator
Estimate how long alcohol stays in your system based on weight, sex, and how much you drank
Enter your sex, body weight, and the volume and ABV of what you drank, and this tool estimates how long your body needs to fully metabolize the alcohol, along with the grams of pure alcohol you consumed. It uses standard elimination rates (0.1 g/kg/h for men, 0.08 g/kg/h for women). It's useful if you want a rough sense of your recovery window before driving or an important commitment the next day. FAQ
- Can I rely on this result to decide whether to drive?
- Absolutely not. This is a simulation based on average elimination rates, and your real sober-up time can vary dramatically with liver function, overall health, and whether you drank on an empty stomach. After drinking, rest thoroughly and never get behind the wheel.
- How do I enter a bottle of soju?
- A standard bottle of soju is typically 360 ml at around 16% ABV, so enter 360 for volume and 16 for alcohol content. For any other drink, just use the volume and ABV printed on the label.
- Does it work if I had several different drinks?
- Yes. Add up the total volume you drank and use the average ABV as a single entry, and it will estimate sober-up time based on your overall intake.
