Reverse VAT Calculator
Split a gross total into net price and VAT, or add VAT on top of a net price.
Work VAT backwards or forwards in one place. Enter a VAT-inclusive total and the calculator divides it out to show the net amount and the tax portion separately; enter a net amount instead and it adds the tax on top. Defaults to a 10% rate (the standard rate in Korea) and supports custom rates for other countries.

How to use
- Enter your amount and choose whether it is VAT-inclusive (gross total) or VAT-exclusive (net price).
- Set the VAT rate — 10% by default, or any custom rate for another country.
- Read off the net amount, the VAT, and the gross total as they update live, then copy the figures you need.
FAQ
- How do you work out VAT backwards at a 10% rate?
- Divide the VAT-inclusive total by 1.1 to get the net amount, then subtract that net amount from the total — what's left is the VAT itself.
- Can I use this for a country where VAT isn't 10%, like a cross-border transaction?
- Yes. The default is Korea's 10% rate, but you can edit the rate field directly. The same reverse-calculation formula (dividing by 1 + rate) works for other rates too, such as the 19% or 20% VAT common in many European countries, letting you separate the net amount and the tax portion.
