- How is ideal weight calculated?
- This calculator uses the formula ideal weight = height(m) squared x 22 (male) or x 21 (female), with plus or minus 10% treated as the healthy weight range.
- How is this different from a BMI calculator?
- Where BMI judges obesity from your weight, an ideal weight calculator first tells you the appropriate weight for your height and your obesity level (%) relative to it. It's more intuitive when setting a target weight.
- Can I treat the result as a medical standard?
- It's a simple estimate that doesn't account for muscle mass, body type, or age, so treat it as a reference. People with a lot of muscle can be healthy above their ideal weight, so use a professional exam for an accurate assessment.
