How to use

What does the SPF number on sunscreen actually mean?
SPF (Sun Protection Factor) mainly measures protection against UVB rays. SPF 30, for example, cuts the UVB reaching your skin to about 1/30 of what it would be with no sunscreen — which in theory means it takes 30 times longer for your skin to start burning.
Is the UV index higher at higher altitudes?
Yes — with less atmosphere to scatter and absorb sunlight, UV intensity tends to rise about 10-12% for every 1,000m of elevation gain. Reflective surfaces like snow, sand, or water also bounce extra UV back at you, so your actual exposure can be higher than the raw index suggests even at the same reading.
